Quality assurance system works at Afyon Kocatepe University are carried out according to legislations determined by Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK). The criterion “B.1.5. Monitoring and updating the program outputs” which is under one of the main titles (education) of the Institutional Self-Evaluation Report Preparation Guide (Version 3.1- 14/12/2022) is guiding in the evaluation and accreditation of the programs at AKU. According to this framework, program accreditation planning, promotion and implementation have been carried out since 2018.
In order to provide quality assurance in programs that have completed monitoring and updating works and have graduated students and studying students, their accreditation is considered important by agencies recognized by Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK).

Afyon Kocatepe University plans the accreditation processes with pay attention to priority subject areas, and within this framework, processes are started with the decisions taken by the University Administrative Committee for the accreditation processes of the programs determined in the relevant faculties. In this context, AKU has gained experience started with the accreditation of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts department in 2019 by “Turizm Eğitimi Değerlendirme ve Akreditasyon Kurulu” (TURAK) as a result of the examinations carried out between 21-24 December 2019 and continued with the accreditation of the Tourism Management and Tourism Guidance departments in 2020.
As a result of the experience gained, the evaluation and accreditation of the active programs at AKU have been assured with the fourth part “Principles Regarding the Monitoring, Updating and Accreditation of Programs” of Afyon Kocatepe University Education Legislation published on March 8, 2021.
After the examination of the self-evaluation and peer-evaluation reports in the academic units and with the decision (2022/09) of the Education Committee of AKU, then the make application for accreditations seemed suitable in 2022 for priority areas of AKU, “Tourism Management (for renewal) at Faculty of Tourism, Public Finance at Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Chemistry at Faculty of Science and Literature, Physical Education and Sports Education at Faculty of Sport Sciences” and this request was offered to University Administrative Committee. An official letter has been sent to the relevant units for the programs specified by the University Administrative Committee’s decision (2022/35) to apply for accreditation.
On 25 January 2022, AKU has been informed by the Assocıatıon for Evaluatıon and Accredıtatıon of Unıversity programs in Mathematıcal, Natural and Socıal Scıences (FEDEK) about AKU’s History Department (normal and evening program) at Faculty of Science and Literature accredited till 30 September 2024.
On 25 June 2022, AKU has been informed by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) about AKU’s Civil Engineering at Faculty of Engineering accredited till 30 September 2024.
On 28 September 2022, AKU has been informed by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Educational Institutions and Programs of Veterinary Medicine (VEDEK) about AKU’s Veterinary Faculty accredited till 28 September 2024.
On 23 June 2023 , AKU has been informed by the Assocıatıon for Evaluatıon and Accredıtatıon of Unıversity programs in Mathematıcal, Natural and Socıal Scıences (FEDEK) about AKU’s Chemistry Department at Faculty of Science and Literature accredited till 30 September 2025.
On 02 August 2023 , AKU has been informed by the Sports Sciences Association (SPORAK) about AKU’s Physical Education and Sports Education Department at the Faculty of Sport Sciences accredited till 26 July 2025.
